DAYS OF TURMOIL

THIS ARTICLE WAS PUBLISHED IN THE JUNE 09 EDITION OF “ MILARCHEM MILAN “

Days of Turmoil . . .

The Veneer of culture and good manners, of brilliant ceremonies and elaborate etiquettes are far more than over. We are living in challenging times. This world has lost its sense of worth and value.
We are basically revolving in planet that does not know its destination.

The agony is infinite, the times are harsh the need is urgent to rediscover grounds of peace, tranquility and hope. The recent issues like the swine flu outbreak; Taliban capturing Buner and retreating; the tension in Swat Valley; Global recession-where millions are becoming jobless; Communal tensions; Melting of glaciers @ rapid speed; Changing climatic conditions; Oil barrels falling below $50 etc…. on and on… These situations are scary.
The dangers which are confronting us have exposed us not only to hideous suffering but even to mortal peril. It’s becoming our passport to disaster!!
People are seeking for less precarious forms of existence going about in strange paradoxes decided only to be undecided, resolved to be irresolute. The youth are losing their very purpose of existence; depression, competition, burden of circumstances are getting the better of them. The pressure to excel has superceded the necessity of survival.

On the same note, the people who are working and gaining their daily bread are stressed out and find an excuse to run away from it.
Managing deadlines, multiple assignments etc are indeed a method in madness…

True that we are living in creative turmoil of a genuine civilization struggling to be born but there is still hope for a better tomorrow providing we act. A finer land, a better people, a more noble civilization is possible… but each one of us must be inspired with a renewed dedication to humanity. We have to put forth our views, call for small community meetings; discuss solutions for the need of the hour; express our views through the Media; speak out and bend a new together for a supreme effort. Simply sitting and criticizing won’t help; we have to act: our time is now.

Please friends, think of it in this light. Do not hesitate; do not fear or else you are doomed. For a moment we might wonder, “If I do my bit, it won’t make a difference It’s a mighty world”. But, I tell you solemnly One dream can change a nation, one spark can inspire hope, ONE MAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. The day will dawn when fair play, love for one’s follow men, respect for justice and freedom will enable tormented generations to go ahead serene and victorious from the ruins in which we dwell. Meanwhile do your bit and never despair.
